Home Decor Trends for 2022

 In Blog

The world of interior design trends changes every year. So, what will the trends be in 2022? The experts in the industry have weighed in, and here are some of the things that will be popular in the new year.

  • Retro Comes Back: In interior design, nothing is ever really gone, and that means that retro decor is back in style. Mid-century modern has been popular for a few years now, but this year will see a resurgence in the furniture and colors from previous decades – especially the late 60s and 70s. If this is your style, it’s time to hit the consignment shops and thrift stores to pick up some good deals that are going to be in style in 2022.
  • Plants, Plants, and More Plants: They’re in vases, hanging from ceilings and walls, and even on furniture! Plants are everywhere! They add a natural element to your home and warm up any space. Head to your local nursery and start picking out some that will work for the light you have in your home. If you’re not sure – ask for some recommendations.
  • Minimalism Remains Popular: If you love a modern look with minimal home decor – then you’ll be happy to know that minimalism will continue to be at the top of the interior design trends for 2022. It’s clean and simple, but it doesn’t mean boring. In fact, many styles are minimalistic without being stark or cold looking at all. If you need some inspiration, head to Pinterest and do a search for “minimalism.” You’ll get some fantastic ideas!
  • Home Office Spaces: If you work from home, your office space is likely the most important room in your house. It’s where you spend a lot of time so it should look inviting and be efficient too. This remains an interior design trend since people are more connected to their jobs than ever before. Remember, you don’t need to dedicate an entire room as an office space. You can carve out a corner of a room and create an area that’s dedicated to working from home.
  • Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Materials: People are still very concerned about the environment and how their lifestyle affects it. In 2022 decor trends, sustainable and eco-friendly items will continue to be sought after because they have a smaller carbon footprint than synthetic options.
  • Neutral and Natural Colors: You will continue seeing a lot of subtle, neutral colors. This is because people want their decor to be as versatile as possible so they can change up the look without breaking the bank. Whites, creams, and beige will be at the top of the list but don’t discount greens and blues, too.
  • Rounded Furniture: Lots of people will be going for soft and rounded pieces in their decor. They look more modern than traditional straight lines, but they still feel very cozy too.
  • Wallpaper: Just when you thought that wallpaper was a thing of the past – it comes back. Yes, it has some old-fashioned appeal that makes it very charming (and ties to the return of retro things), but there are new styles coming out that are clean and modern and not like you would find at your grandmother’s house.
  • Patterns and Prints: Interior designers are loving patterns and prints for 2022. Look for accent chairs in prints, area rugs, and much more in the new year.

If you’re thinking of doing some redecorating in 2022, these are some of the trends to be looking for? Which ones do you like? Which ones are not your thing?
