How to Stop Being Late for Everything!

 In Blog

Are you always running late? Do people often tell you that you’re “always late for everything?” If so, don’t worry – you’re not alone – but it doesn’t have to be this way. Let’s look at some tips and tricks that can help you stop being late all the time.

  • Why Are You Late?: If you want to stop being late, first ask yourself why. Are you always running out the door at the last minute because of something else that’s going on in your life? Maybe it’s time for some self-reflection. People tend to be late when they don’t have enough time or energy left over after taking care of other things – like work responsibilities and family obligations; maybe this is happening with you, too.
  • Remember: It’s Good to Be On Time: Remind yourself why it’s good to be on time. You may think that being late isn’t a big deal because everyone else does it too, but this just isn’t true. It’s actually disrespectful to others when someone shows up late for something important like an interview or meeting at work – and if you’re constantly running behind schedule, then chances are good your boss will notice.
  • Plan Ahead: Plan ahead so that there is enough time in your day for everything you need to do. This means setting alarms/reminders on your phone, as well as scheduling out tasks throughout the week so they aren’t all bunched together on one day – which might lead you to rushing around – not getting anything done properly due to a lack of time management skills.
  • Learn to Say No: Practice saying no more often. This will free up more space which can then be used to focus on other things and will help you prioritize tasks and events.
  • Figure Out How Long It Takes to Get Places: Figure out how long it will take you to get someplace. Look up the address on Google Maps/Waze and see how long it would take in your car. If you’re taking public transportation, look up bus schedules or train times, so that you know exactly when to leave home for work/school, etc.
  • Use Your Alarm: Set an alarm at least 15-30 minutes before whatever event you need to be at – this will give you enough time in case something unexpected happens along the way (e.g., traffic jams). You’ll also feel less stressed knowing that barring a catastrophe you will be on time.
  • Quit Trying to Multitask: Stop multitasking. Studies have shown that people who multitask are actually less productive than those who focus on one task at a time. This is because when you’re trying to do too many things at once, your brain can’t focus on any of them properly, and thus nothing gets done in a timely manner.

In the words of Nike: Just Do It! Stop making excuses for why you’re always late. It’s time to take some action and work towards changing this habit for good. Implementing some or all of the tips and tricks outlined above should help get you started. And remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day – so don’t expect perfection overnight, but rather give yourself enough time to make gradual changes which will eventually lead to long-lasting good habits.

If you’re going to be late, call and let the person know as soon as possible – they’ll appreciate the heads up! And don’t forget to apologize too!
